Micah Felts
Micah Felts’ music began, improbably enough, with a white Fender Stratocaster from a shoe store window.
His parents owned Felts Shoes, and when a Doc Martens display arrived with a guitar meant only as a prop, the company rep told the family they could keep it. Micah’s dad brought it home and gave it to him. He was 11 or 12, and the guitar changed everything.
Today, Felts is a Tulsa indie folk singer-songwriter who writes about the tender, complicated parts of being human. There is an unguarded quality to Felts when he performs, a stillness that lets the songs come forward without being pushed.
His work moves through grief, faith, longing, gratitude, anxiety, mortality, and love, not as grand declarations, but as ordinary truths people carry every day. The songs never collapse under the weight of those themes. They arrive gently, carried by acoustic guitar, intimate vocals, careful melodies, and plainspoken lyrics that leave space for the listener.
That same care runs through his 2026 EP; I Don’t Know How to Write a Song. Its title track won the 2026 Jimmy LaFave Songwriting Contest, a fitting recognition for a songwriter whose quiet songs tend to stay with you.
